Tracie Frederick works in the Development Office at North Shore Country Day. She is a sponsor of the Youth Philanthropy Board (YPB). This group of seniors from area schools - Regina, Loyola, North Shore Country Day, and Roycemore - is learning about the art and science of philanthropy and making a direct impact in the North Shore community. This inaugural senior cohort gave away $10,000 in grants last year and is currently working to raise money for the junior cohort so they can give money away to area non-profits this year. They meet once a month, discussing issues from how to run a nonprofit organization to how to write appeals for grants. Not only have they been able to learn about the work behind the scenes of philanthropy, but they have been able to apply these concepts in our communities. |
