President Bill called the meeting to order at 12:15.
Barb shared an insightful Thought of the Day, recognizing President George H.W. Bush and the Points of Light Foundation, begun by President Bush. The Volunteer Center is one of the Points of Light.

President Bill announced that it is Chuck Norton’s birthday, but he was not in attendance. We had three anniversaries: Rodger Morris (46 years), Alan Ramsay (42 years) and Mary Lou Bilder-Gold (23 years).
Announcements:
Bill shared a thank you received from students at the Marquette School of Excellence, as they received coats through our Operation Warm project. He reminded us that there is another distribution on December 8.
We are wrapping gifts for Youth Services of Glenview-Northbrook on Sunday, December 9 from 1:00-2:00pm at the Harley Davidson dealership. 6 volunteers are needed. Let Barb know.
Liz invited all of us to the Chamber Holiday Party being held in her bank on Tuesday, December 11th from 5:00-7:30pm.
Mary promoted the WYO Sip & Shop event this weekend – a portion of the proceeds from many stores in the village will go to the YO.

Tony had 3 bucks for Ned, David and Eric, “our maestros” at the piano before the meeting starts.
Marie gave a buck because while she acknowledges that she is a liberal, she has found the coverage of the life of George Bush heartwarming.
Ned shared that the dinner with the “man from Ecuador” was great – those in attendance learned a lot and he will be with us for lunch on December 27.
Patti provided a joke relating to county highway workers for Dig N Grin.
Our speaker was Rosemary Heilemann, representing the League of Women Voters. This organization is 100 years old, and in 1920 adopted the position that the Electoral College should be abolished. They have reaffirmed this position recently and are speaking to groups to educate them on why they believe that the Electoral College is no longer a relevant way in which to elect our political leaders.
