Stories
It was beautiful day, and thus the luncheon was held outdoors in the WCH's Arches Garden. Twenty-six members attended this week’s meeting but there were no guests. Fred Schwimmer noted that bringing guests is much to be desired.

President Bob Baker opened the meeting and noted automobile decals were available for those who wished and a voluntary $5 would be appropriate.
He also called our attention  to the
    -  August 23 WCH Last Blast of Summer and noted volunteers will be
needed to serve beer on behalf of our club.
    -  Sept. 12 event at Hadley School for the Blind
    -  Sept. 27 Northfield Farmer's Market where we will have a small booth

Barb Tubekis thanked one and all for the cash contributions made to the New Trier food pantry

Our Winnetka-Northfield member Mark Kotz was our featured speaker.  He talked about counterfeit currency with specific reference to the U.S. Treasury's new $100 bill and a new $20 bill.  While the talk was warmly received, Mark was not able to provide the members present with free samples of the new currency.

Our Club's Charitable Foundation is now accepting Community Grants applications for funding for the 2014-15 funding year. Applications are due by November 30, with grants to be awarded in March, 2015. Our Foundation typically funds about 15 organizations, both local and international. Applicants are required to have a club member as a sponsor of their organization. This person can be a board member, volunteer or donor to the organization. Grants are typically $500-2,000. A list of last year's recipients is below.

Don't forget to bring toiletries with you to lunch to donate to the Food Pantry. They are especially in need of full-size shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash and dental floss. Paper goods like paper towels, toilet paper and Kleenex are always welcome.

Next time you're at the store, pick up something extra for the New Trier Township Food Pantry.

Thank you!
