President Debra Campbell welcomed everyone and opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Ken Drummet shared a poem called The Dash Between by Linda Ellis as thought for the day. Guest Ellie Schwimmer shared that she would like to join our Club and cheers broke out across the room!
After lunch, Debra Campbell, Thomas Applegate, and Liz Taylor inducted Nancy Krueger of North Shore Community Bank & Trust into the Club. Welcome, Nancy!
Rives Collins shared a song called The Red Corvette by John McCutcheon for Dig-n-Grin. Happy bucks were shared by Rives Collins, Ken Drummet, and Moha Bouacha.
A few announcements were shared:
- Visiting Rotarian John Baer is with us today, as is guest Ellie Schwimmer.
- Rich Lalley shared that there is a group running a worldwide virtual golf tournament as a fundraiser for polio. Bob Baker, Debra Campbell, Ken Drummet, and Rich Lalley are going to participate by playing a round of golf on Monday in Glenview – all are invited to make a donation through our Club Foundation to support them in this cause.
- Barb Tubekis reminded us that September 1 is our next lunch packing night for Connections for the Homeless. Sign-up sheets will be available starting next week.
Rather than a speaker today, Bridget Lewis, Executive Director of The Volunteer Center, led us in a service project in conjunction with The Backyard Flower Lab, which is a volunteer-run nonprofit right here in Winnetka. After Bridget shared a brief presentation about both organizations, we prepared bouquets to be shared at the Pearl Senior Living community in Evanston.
The meeting concluded with our usual recitation of the Four-Way Test.
